Injured? Our Musculoskeletal Specialist Can Help!
Whether you are a marathon runner, a weekend warrior, or someone who enjoys walking the neighborhood, our musculoskeletal specialist can help when you are sidelined due to an injury. Our goal is to help get you back on your feet to do the things you enjoy for a happier and healthier life.
Our musculoskeletal specialists are board certified in family medicine and primary care sports medicine. Here’s how to start the process and what you can expect:
- When appropriate, your primary care physician will initiate a quick and seamless referral process.
- You’ll be scheduled for a consultation with your dedicated musculoskeletal specialist at your home clinic for ease and convenience.
- The physician will obtain a comprehensive history behind the injury, which includes factors that may have led to the injury, associated medical conditions and medications, and a history of similar injuries. A thorough musculoskeletal exam is performed. A point-of-care ultrasound may be done to look for swelling, tears, and degradation of soft tissue structures or a joint. Further imaging may be required for a definitive diagnosis.
- After a diagnosis is established, the physician will explain the causes and treatment options, which range from oral medications to a surgical referral. Ultrasound-guided joint injections at Health by Design may be considered for musculoskeletal injuries.
The musculoskeletal specialist can also do high school sports physicals for retiree family members ages 14 and up, as well as concussion management. Please reach out to your primary care physician to get started.
