Bexar County– a 5% increase over last year raising over $32,000 the largest amount ever raised from the employees.

This is our largest campaign of the year, with an average of 50 - 60 presentations to 23 different departments, reaching well over 5,000 employees, over the course of two months, May through July.

Fund staff presenting, many of the presentations are done by county employees, generally “Campaign Coordinators.” There are 26 county employees that are volunteer Campaign Coordinators, there is also the overall campaign coordinator, Laura Jesse, and the Campaign Chair, Donna Kay McKinney, District Clerk, all contributing their time and effort to make this year’s Fund employee campaign sucessful.

Mr. Rios with Karim Jacaman,
Infrastructure Services Campaign Coordinator

Last year close to 500 Bexar county employees supported the arts through their participation in a fund campaign. The addition of Fund t-shirts as an added incentive, has made this year even more exciting than usual
.

We never anticipated the success theFund t-shirt would have on our campaigns, but donors love them (the cost of Fund t-shirts has been sponsored 100% by Security Services Federal Credit Union).
The hard work and effort that the County Co-Ordinators did not go unrewarded: The three departments to distinguish themselves in one of the 3 categories were presented with awards at the Commissioner's Court on August 9, 2011
The 3 categories were: Had the largest percentage increase over last year
Had the largest percentage of participation
And raised the most dollars over all

We also presented special recognition certificates to the coordinators and departments that reported significant increases over last year.

 Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Texas

21% of the workforce participated in the Toyota campaign this year.  YOSA and SAISD Washington Irving Middle School Mariachi band both gave performances at TMMTX during the campaign.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Texas ran its campaign from March 18 to April1.  Results as of this writing were better than 2010, thanks to the response from associates completing contribution forms during the presentations, in the main entrance in the plant, from the SAISD Washington Irving Middle School Mariachi band and YOSA.

This was a real first for this kind of activity at Toyota.  Both groups performed for two straight hours during the shift change with the truck line moving, shop saws running and all kinds of other noise to contend with, but the students were fabulous and really brought a new dimension to the event just by their sheer size and ability to fill the space with music.  We gave out over 300 Fund t-shirts to donors. Thanks SSFCU and Director Worthington for making that possible.

2011 Citibank Service Center Campaign for theFund.

3/7/11 - Campaign Kick Off: This year's kick off incredible.  They had performances by 3 of their very own artists (Maggie Ivins, Debra Fiedler, and Jesse De Hoyos), Barbara Saunders, a former Art Contest winners shared what Art meant to them and CEO Norman Wright help wrapped things up with a few words regarding his involvement with the Arts.

3/9/11 - theFund Open House: This year's open house featured performances by the Guadalupe Dance Troupe and the Magik Theater.  Both performances were fantastic and the 15 Affiliates that attended the Open House agreed to come back again next year.

3/11/11 - The Art Show & Contest allowed many of their employees an opportunity to display art they created, as well as art created by their family and friends.  This year they had more exhibits than contest entries, but as always a wonderful event that allowed all who came down to appreciate the immense talent they have.  Congratulations to Joanna Soliz, Agnes Rozsa and Andrew Bradley, the winners of this year's contest.

3/12/11 - Luminaria - Citibank Service Center had 75 volunteers support Luminaria this year, Way to Go CITI!  If you wanted anything to eat or drink at the event you had to buy tickets from the wall of Citi employees who manned the ticket booths.

3/16/11 - The students from the theater arts group at Say Si went out to Citi to perform a skit that they wrote called "Give me a loan".  The skit was written specifically for their performance at Citi, by them, because they wanted it to relate to the bankers.  The students did an awesome job.  The audience were also given the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about what Say Si has to offer.

In addition to all of the above, various departments hosted bake sales, silent auctions, cash and carry, clothing pass sales, and solicited contributions throughout the last two weeks, raising a total of $4,625 for theFund.

Polly Wagner, supervising coordinator for the campaign, and Fund Board member  presented the winning department representatives, Bradley Wright, Matthew Vargas, Armando Tenorio, of the Premium Client Services department, with theFund Duck, to acknowledge their successful fundraising efforts at the last Fund Board meeting.
